International Forum of Young Theatre Professionals

2 – 16 May 2004 during the Theatertreffen 2004
Director: Dr. Manfred Linke

The Forum is organized in cooperation with the Goethe Institute Munich and the foundation Pro Helvetia Zurich and supported by the Deutscher Bühnenverein (German Stage Association) and the regional institutions for culture in the Federal Republic of Germany.

At the centre of this educational event for young people working in theatre, be they from state-funded theatres or professional freelancers (actors, directors, stage and costume designers, dramatic advisors, musicians specializing in theatre work, choreographers and performance artists as well as playwrights) are four workshops which take place simultaneously:

The workshops will be directed by the following people:

  • Harald Clemen (director, Munich) "Help! Help! or I am lost!" A laboratory
  • Sabine Harbeke (author, theatre and film director, Zurich)
The workshop is supported by an additional grant from Pro Helvetia, Swiss cultural foundation
  • Susanne Linke (choreographer and dancer, Berlin)"Theatre - Dance - Dancetheatre"
  • Patrick Schimanski (composer, musician and director, Munich)
    "Rhythm" and "Timing"

Alongside these four workshops the programme consists of, amongst other things:

  • a seminar probably about "theatre and politics" if there is a connection with the nominated performances (Presentation: Hajo Kurzenberger)
  • discussions about performances in the Theatertreffen programme and with members of the Theatertreffen jury
  • a part of the programme created by the participants (with contributions from those awarded a grant by the Goethe Institute about work in the theatre in their home countries, video clips with commentary of the productions of other participants and discussions about topics of the participants' own choice)
  • performances within the Theatertreffen and productions in Berlin as well as readings in the "Stückemarkt" (Play Market)
