Andriy Zholdak

Andriy Zholdak (42) is the enfant terrible of Ukrainian theatre. He studied at the State Institute of Cinematography and Theatre (Moscow) and then under Anatoliy Vasiliev. From 1989, he was an independent director with numerous productions in Ukraine, Russia and Romania. For two years, Zholdak has been the director of the traditional Kharkiv State Academic Drama Theatre, named “T. Shevchenko”. His works, including Hamlet.Dreams and One Day of Ivan Denisovich, have been invited to many international theatre festivals. In 2004, Zholdac received the UNESCO Performing Arts Award.
